Holiday Work!?

For flip sake, who designed homework in holidays? I know it's to further our education so that we don't forget everything over the 6-week break but surely revision should be the only option and whether we choose to revise or not can be our decision. However this is not the case, instead we are given bucket loads of work to complete which either the teacher's left out and have given us to do independently or it is work that needs assistance from a teacher as there's no understanding of the objective. Either way seeking guidance is an issue so requires being non-existent in the long run.
