Last Time I'll Be Doing That.
When reading, I find I have to read over the sentences or words several times before I can fully comprehend. Similarly with writing, I struggle to find the correct words.. Or I sit contemplating for a short while before finally settling with another choice.
Therefore, when I was asked to write a 10 mark answer as preparation for the history exam on a topic I was very unsure about, I decided it might be easier to have my dad explain it. Since history is the only subject he's passionate about, I thought he may enjoy it. He could make the information more basic if necessary and I would have more confidence in writing the answer. Especially since Miss told me to write a model answer- meaning I could spend as long as I wished on it just so I could perfect the structure.
However, I did not expect a rejection. After moaning at me to study, repeatedly, he disapproved of my gaining the knowledge from him. After complaining about it being seen as "cheating" I asked what he thought a teacher does, to which he chuckled... Apparently that's not learning. I'd love to hear his opinion on education within schools.
Instead I was sent to research the campaign online..
Quote of the day:
[sitting in the living room]
*silence*
Dad: So where did the Gallipoli campaign take place?
Me: Gallipoli, Turkey? I don't know..
*silence*
Dad: *leaves and return a couple minutes later* Look Beth, I'm trying to help you.
What the hell? How is that aiding my learning? He asked me a question without teaching me anything and have no reply to my answer.
Adios,
Beth x
